Southampton boss Ronald Koeman is set to reject Everton’s advances as he intends to see out his final year at St Mary’s.
The Dutchman is considered one of the leading contenders to replace the axed Roberto Martinez at Goodison Park, behind only compatriot Frank de Boer with the bookmakers.
However, Koeman has one year left on his deal at St Mary’s and it is claimed he plans to see out of his contract with Southampton, before potentially moving on next summer.
Tabloid reports have suggested the 53-year-old believes he could be a contender to replace Arsene Wenger at Arsenal when the Frenchman’s deal expires next summer, and as such he is ready to reject any offers from Everton.
Former Ajax boss De Boer is rated as the favourite to replace Martinez after leaving Ajax at the end of the season but there are plenty of other names in the frame at this stage.
