Southampton are reportedly set to beat Manchester United to the signing of highly-rated Dundee United youngster Kieran Freeman.
The 16-year-old Terrors starlet is thought to be one of the hottest prospects in Scottish football and has been scouted by the 20-time English champions.
But, according to The Scottish Sun, Saints are on the verge of beating United to the defender’s signature.
Freeman is said to have undergone a medical with Southampton and the deal is just waiting to be confirmed.
Saints’ director of scouting Ross Wilson appears to have acted swiftly, utilising his network of Scottish contacts, to seal another swoop from north of the border.
The Scottish Sun say that Freeman has regularly been invited to train with United and the club had hoped to lure him to Old Trafford in a similar deal to the one they struck for Darren Fletcher when he turned 16.
