Southampton are among a number of clubs who have been linked with Liverpool’s Mamadou Sakho, who is set to make a decision on a move.
Sakho has been frozen out at Anfield this season and is widely expected to depart Liverpool during the January transfer window.
Saints boss Claude Puel has confirmed he expects Jose Fonte to exit St Mary’s in the current transfer window and the club are seeking reinforcements at centre-half.
As such, Sakho has been mooted as a possible target but Saints face plenty of competition as Premier League rivals Stoke, Sunderland, West Ham and West Brom have all been tipped to make moves for the Frenchman, while there is interest from across Europe as the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Galatasaray, Sevilla and AC Milan are all said to be keen.
The 26-year-old is reported to be open to a move to Southampton and Puel may not have to wait too long to discover if he will be able to snare the defender, as it has been claimed Sakho is keen to make a decision on his next move in the coming days.
