Southampton have been linked with interest in Lyon’s Rachid Ghezzal, Lorient’s Didier Ndong and Anderlecht’s Dennis Praet.
Saints were reported to have sent a delegation to Belgium to watch Praet in action last week with Sevilla and Fiorentina appearing to be the main competition for his signature.
The 22-year-old is widely expected to leave the Brussels club this summer and, speaking at the weekend, told Belgacom: “Will I leave? This is a chance, yes. I have just one year left on my contract, so therefore it is likely that I will leave Anderlecht. I want to go for a new challenge.
“There is no certainty. Sevilla? That is Spain, Italy or England. I cannot say any more about it.”
Meanwhile, Algerian midfielder Ghezzal is reportedly wanted by a long list of English clubs with Southampton one of nine teams linked in France – as well as champions Paris Saint-Germain.
Arsenal, Swansea, Stoke City, West Ham, Leicester, Middlesbrough, Liverpool and Sunderland have also shown an interest in the 24-year-old, who contributed 10 goals and seven assists to Lyon’s cause last season.
And it is claimed that Saints are in a straight fight with Premier League rivals Stoke City for Ndong – an energetic midfielder who has been likened to ex-Chelsea star Michael Essien.
The Gabon international has just completed his first full season with Lorient after arriving from Tunisian club CS Sfaxien and was rumoured to be being watched by Serie A clubs as well as the Ligue 1 big boys in January.
