Southampton are reportedly closing in on the signing of Lille’s Sofiane Boufal after agreeing to pay the £20million asking price.
The Saints are one of several Premier League clubs to be credited with an interest in the highly-rated 23-year-old Morocco international forward, while Barcelona have also been linked.
However, while Boufal is believed to favour a move to St Mary’s to link up with French coach Claude Puel, a deal looked unlikely earlier in the week when the Saints were offering just under 15million euros.
But reports in France are claiming that Southampton will now agree to pay 20million euros up front, with extras potentially taking the deal to 25million euros – £21.3million.
It appears that Lille will be happy to accept that bid and Boufal, who scored 11 times and made five assists last term before injury prematurely ended his season, could get the green light to move to England by the end of this week, with a five-year contract on the table at Southampton.
