Jose Fonte does not think Manchester City will be distracted by their Champions League semi-final when they face Southampton on Sunday.
The Saints still have one eye on possible Europa League qualification via their Premier League finish, but know they must win their remaining three games of the season to have a chance.
City are up first at St Mary’s on Sunday and the game comes sandwiched between their massive European double-header against Real Madrid.
The first leg is at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday, before the return game in Spain next Wednesday, and the hope for Ronald Koeman’s men is that Manuel Pellegrini’s men take their eye off the ball on the south coast this weekend.
However, Fonte has urged his team-mates to just go out and try and win the game regardless.
The 32-year-old told the Daily Echo: “We have to make sure we have a good game plan for them and we can nullify all their weapons.
“Towards the end of the game, if weÂ’re still in the game, hopefully itÂ’ll be good for us. They are professional players and we have to approach the game to win.
“Hopefully we can do the job and get the three points, which would be fantastic.”
On the race for Europe, Fonte is hopeful that Liverpool’s bid to secure a Champions League spot by winning the Europa League will distract them in their remaining league fixtures.
Fonte added: “We know itÂ’s not looking good but thereÂ’s three games to go and we still believe.
“It’s up to us. We need to win the next three games, so we give it all we have. We need to keep ourselves in the fight.”
