Berahino, who joined Albion when he was 10 after fleeing war-torn Burundi, is now knuckling down to get back to peak fitness.
He added: “I have missed a lot of football and I am just trying to get myself back to match fitness and sharper again like I was last season.
“So my focus is mainly on getting back to what I was last season and finishing really on a high.
“I know if I get myself in a good position the goals will come. So I just stay patient and work hard for the team and try and push on.”
