Ryan Shawcross ready to face Zlatan Ibrahimovic for first time since that night in Sweden

“I think he’ll relish the opportunity, why wouldn’t he?”

Mark Hughes

“I think he’ll relish the opportunity, why wouldn’t he? He has the opportunity to play well and maybe lay some ghosts to rest.”

Hughes reckons everything conspired against Shawcross on that fateful night in Stockholm adding: “It was under difficult circumstances. It’s more difficult for a centre half as a sub.

“Ibrahimovic was on fire – he scored four goals,” he said. “That’s some kind of level – it could’ve been anybody, unfortunately for Ryan he was involved in the game.

“Ryan is looking forward to the game, as we all are. It is a big test. You see our record there isn’t good.”
