Chinese consortium, The Rui Kang Group, are reportedly on the verge of sealing a £75million takeover of Aston Villa.
Reports claim the Hong Kong-based group, who are owned by the Chinese government and are said to deal mainly in cosmetic and pharmaceutical products, have tried and failed to buy Villa in the past.
However, current owner Randy Lerner pulled out when the Chinese stock market crashed last year.
But a fresh move appears to be in the pipeline with claims that The Rui Kang Group will approach Liverpool’s former director of football Damien Comolli to become the technical director at Villa Park.
The 43-year-old, who also had a spell in a similar role at Tottenham, has not been involved in football since he departed Anfield in April 2012 following a near 18-month stint working for Reds’ owners, Fenway Sports Group.
It’s also being suggested that Villa will not appoint a new permanent manager until a buyout is complete and a long-term replacement for Remi Garde has a settled environment to work in.
