Skipper Darren Fletcher is backing current West Brom forward Salomon Rondon to ‘score plenty of goals’ if they give him the service.
Baggies boss Tony Pulis is on the verge of pushing through a deal to sign West Ham forward Diafra Sakho in what will be a club record £16million outlay.
However, Venezuela international Rondon currently holds the title of being West Brom’s record buy following his £12million arrival from Zenit St Petersburg 12 months ago.
Following a slow start to his Premier League career, Rondon ended the season with a respectable nine goals from 34 top flight appearances and Fletcher is optimistic he can improve on those statistics in this coming campaign.
Fletcher told the Express & Star: “He’ll be the first to tell you he’s a lot fitter this season. He’s settled into the country, the language, coming from the Russian league to the Premier League is a big step up.
“I thought he had a fantastic season last season and I think he’s going to carry it on this season, if we can get more crosses into the box.
“We need to get service to Salomon, because he will score plenty of goals.”
