Ronald Koeman flying back from Caribbean to complete switch to Everton

That is a drop in the ocean for Everton’s majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri, who will also pay Koeman £7m a year to restore the club to former glories after they finished 11th last season – five places and 16 points behind Koeman’s Saints.

The Toffees have also been linked with former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini, Sevilla manager Unai Emery and ex-Ajax chief Frank de Boer.

But they believe Koeman’s track record in the Premier League makes him a clear winner and although his arrival is not cut and dried just yet, he is edging ever closer to the Everton job.

Moshiri and club chairman Bill Kenwright are in no doubt that he is the best man available to rejuvenate the club.
