Mario Rui’s agent has rubbished speculation Swansea could snap up the Empoli defender, insisting he has already agreed to join Roma.
Swans boss Francesco Guidolin is actively looking to add a new left-back to his squad this summer to provide competition for Neil Taylor and has been linked with several options currently plying their trade in Serie A.
Rui, 25, was the latest of those in Italy said to be on Guidolin’s wishlist, despite Roma having thought to have agreed terms with Empoli on a season-long loan deal for the Portuguese.
A delay in the conclusion of Roma’s deal for Rui had lead to speculation that Swansea could make a late swoop to capture the defender but his agent has said there is no chance of him moving to Wales, claiming Rui is set on the Italian capital.
2Empoli reached an agreement with Roma and we are in full agreement with the Giallorossi,” agent Mario Giuffredi told TMW. “There is nothing more to add, the rest is of no interest to us.
“We chose Roma and have an agreement with the Giallorossi. That is the only thing that counts.”
