Chelsea will have to move quickly if they wish to land Marseille defender Nicolas N’Koulou as Roma have opened talks with him.
The Blues are in the hunt for a new central defender this summer as Antonio Conte looks to bolster his backline and N’Koulou has long been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.
However they will have to move quickly as Roma also want a centre-half and appear to be in the box seat to do a deal.
The 26-year-old’s agent, Maxime Nana, has now revealed that he is holding talks with Luciano Spalletti’s side but insists a deal is still a long way from being concluded, which means the door is still open for Chelsea to make their move.
Nana said: “I can confirm that Roma are interested. Right now there are some talks being held with the directors of Roma, although nothing has been agreed and no conclusion has been reached yet.”
The Cameroon star also has an eye for goal and it is no surprise that there is a battle for his signature.
