Sunderland midfielder Jack Rodwell has echoed manager Sam Allardyce’s claims that they need four wins out of their last eight games.
Rodwell has called on his team-mates to stop conceding late goals in matches if they want to survive this season.
After conceding yet another late equaliser at the weekend, this time to arch rivals Newcastle, Allardyce called on his side to win four of their remaining games and Rodwell has echoed those comments.
“We probably need four wins out of eight games now. We are capable of doing it. But we have to stop conceding in the last ten or 15 minutes,” Rodwell explained.
“There are plenty of positives but we are in exactly the same position as we were last season. We do need to start collecting more points.
“We canÂ’t just play well for 70 minutes 85 or 89. We canÂ’t just look at it and keep saying we played well. ItÂ’s not enough. We have to play for 95 minutes.”
