Stoke will have to pay over £10million to have any chance of signing Michael Keane after Burnley rejected such a bid from Leicester.
Potters boss Mark Hughes has put a new central defender high on his wanted list this summer, and Keane has been heavily linked with a move to the Britannia Stadium.
Keane was a rock at the back for the Clarets last season as they won promotion back to the Premier League, and his form caught the eye of Hughes and Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri.
Leicester are now reported to have made the first move by launching a £10million bid for the former Manchester United starlet.
Burnley are determined to keep hold and have knocked back the bid but that is unlikely to be the end of the matter and the Foxes are sure to test Burnley’s resolve even further by coming back with a new improved offer.
The failed bid could also give Stoke a nudge and they may have to move quickly if they are to have any chance of doing a deal with the Clarets.
