West Brom failed with a £30m summer move for Sporting Lisbon star William Carvalho.

The midfielder has long been linked with a transfer to England and Arsenal have tracked the player for a number of years.

Liverpool and Manchester United have also been keeping tabs on the midfielder too and they were impressed by his performances for Portugal at Euro 2016.

However, according to Record, it was in fact West Brom who failed with a mammoth £30m move for Carvalho in the summer.

Baggies boss Tony Pulis is reportedly a huge fan of the 24-year-old and he had given the green light for the deal.

However, Sporting were said to be unhappy at the structure of payment, with West Brom offering £26m upfront and a further £4m in instalments.
