Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata has revealed that Chelsea made a £60million offer to sign him this summer.
The 23-year-old recently returned to the Bernabeu after spending a two-year spell at Italian champions Juventus.
And now Morata has revealed the extent of Chelsea’s interest in bringing him to Stamford Bridge during the recent transfer window.
“They [Chelsea] really wanted to sign me, they made a big offer,” said Morata told ESPN.
“Chelsea offered £60 million to sign me that would have made me the most expensive Spanish footballer of all time.
“Real, however, said no.
“They wanted to keep me and that’s a great achievement for me. Wearing the Real Madrid shirt is a dream came true.”
