Marouane Chamakh and Kieran Richardson will hope to make their Cardiff debuts against Sheffield Wednesday.
Both players were on the bench and had to watch on Friday night as fellow new signings Junior Hoilett and Sol Bamba made their bows against Bristol City, as Neil Warnock’s reign as manager got off to a winning start.
Anthony Pilkington was only fit enough for the bench against the Robins following a thigh problem and he too will be looking to get into the starting line-up.
Matthew Connolly was overlooked for duty despite being available after suspension and the defender will hope to be back in the squad on Wednesday night.
Steven Fletcher is expected to be back in the Owls squad after being a notable absentee at the weekend.
The Scotland international striker missed the victory at Huddersfield due to his wife going into labour.
However, the trip to the Welsh capital will come too soon for Lucas Joao. The forward has not featured since August 27 because of a groin problem but Wednesday head coach Carlos Carvalhal expects him to be available again shortly.
Carvalhal will make a late decision on his team selection after pointing out Cardiff’s advantage of extra rest, having played Friday night compared to his side’s clash on Sunday.
