Liverpool have rejected Crystal Palace’s latest bid for Christian Benteke because at £23m it falls way short of their valuation.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has made it clear that none of the players who are available for sale will leave the club on the cheap and they want their valuation of at least £30m for the Belgium frontman, who struggled at Anfield following his £32.5m move from Aston Villa last year.
Palace have made an offer which is said to be worth £23m initially with a further £7m to follow in add-ons but that was turned down.
Following the sale of Yannick Bolasie to Everton this week for £30m, Palace have the funds to do the deal but Klopp warned last week that none of their surplus- to-requirement strikers would go on the cheap. He said: “If anybody thinks that because we have more than one striker, we make presents to other clubs, that’s the biggest misunderstanding in world football.
“We will not do that 100 per cent.”
