Jurgen Klopp is hoping for better against AC Milan on Sunday after Liverpool’s 1-0 loss to Chelsea, eyeing more belief from his squad.
A Gary Cahill header delivered the Reds’ first defeat of pre-season in Pasadena’s Rose Bowl Stadium, with the Liverpool fans getting the opportunity to see new signings Ragnar Klavan, Sadio Mane, Marko Grujic, and Lorius Karius in action.
Even though Klopp was relatively satisfied with the display, he knows there is more to come and has called on his squad to show more belief as they prepare to face Milan next in California.
Reacting to the defeat, the Reds boss stated: “For the last pass there were two things – a little bit fresher legs would help against a deep formation and the other thing is again more belief in our skills because we are able to play really good football.
“It was ok, we could have done better, but for the moment I am not dissatisfied. It is ok, not more.”
Whether Klavan will appear in the next match against Milan is currently uncertain, after he picked up an injury from a rash Cesc Fabregas challenge, for which he received a red card. Grujic is also doubtful to be involved after picking up an injury.
One standout player who could appear in Sunday’s fixture is Ovie Ejaria. The 18-year-old midfielder has left a positive impression on the Liverpool fans since making his debut in their first pre-season game against Tranmere Rovers, and added to his growing reputation with an energetic performance against Chelsea.
