Chelsea are reported to have launched a £60million move for Real Madrid star James Rodriguez after giving up on Romelu Lukaku.
The Blues have been chasing Lukaku all summer but it looks as though their former striker has committed his future to Everton, forcing boss Antonio Conte to look elsewhere.
Reports are now rife that the Italian is ready to splash out as much as £60million in an attempt to land Rodriguez before the closure of the transfer window.
The Colombian is a completely different player to Lukaku and is more of a playmaker, but he still has an eye for goal and would add more quality to the Chelsea ranks.
Conte’s switch in transfer targets would also suggest that Diego Costa is going nowhere before the transfer deadline and he looks sure to lead the Chelsea line this season.
Real boss Zinedine Zidane has insisted that Rodriguez is not for sale this summer, but a figure of £60million could tempt him, especially if he landed a replacement first.
