Chelsea are reportedly in negotiations with Real Madrid over a possible big-money swoop to sign Colombia international James Rodriguez.
The 25-year-old became a star at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and that prompted Los Blancos to pay French side Monaco a fee in the region of 80 million euros to take him to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Rodriguez has featured regularly for Madrid over the past two years with 79 appearances in all competitions, but he appears to have slipped down current boss Zinedine Zidane’s pecking order.
Fears over a lack of first-team action has prompted the player to push for a move and that has resulted in Chelsea – currently 5/1 with Titanbet to win the Premier League – expressing an interest in taking him to Stamford Bridge for a round 70 million euros before the August 31 deadline.
Reports in Spain claim talks are now under way, despite the fact Real president Florentino Perez does not want to sell Rodriguez.
However, Zidane is happy for him to leave in order to find first-team football elsewhere, while he can then use the fee to use on bolstering his own squad.
