Schalke have confirmed the signing of Chelsea defender Baba Rahman, who has joined the Bundesliga club on a season-long loan.
Rahman only made 11 league starts last season for the Blues and the 22-year-old will be grateful for the opportunity of more regular first-team football in the Bundesliga.
The Ghana left-back flew out with his new team-mates to Austria for pre-season on Monday and Schalke took to their official Twitter account to break the news.
“Abdul Rahman Baba is travelling with the Schalke squad to the training camp,” they tweeted.
Rahman penned a bumper five-year deal when signing from German side Augsburg last summer, but there is very little chance of him seeing that out at Stamford Bridge.
It remains to be seen whether there is an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the loan, but Chelsea will no doubt be happy to cash in if the price is right.
