Tony Pulis intends to give his youngsters a run out against a potentially star-studded Paris Saint-Germain line-up in Austria.
The French champions are expected to field a side that will include £50m ex-Chelsea defender David Luiz, his Brazilian international team-mates Thiago Silva and Lucas Moura – plus new signing Hatem Ben Arfa in Schladming.
But Pulis will not be fielding his strongest eleven and says he is more concerned about his squad’s fitness than the result.
“Results during pre-season mean very little to me,” said the Albion head coach.
“I’ll mix and match it, we have five or six academy players out here so we’ll try to give them some game time as well.
“I’m more concerned with getting everyone through the games without picking up any injuries.
“Then when we get to the first game of the season everyone should be available for selection and in good shape.
“PSG have a fabulous team with fantastic players so we might be chasing the ball a bit but that’s good for us at this stage.”
