West Brom have beaten Newcastle to the loan signing of Everton left-back Brendan Galloway, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The former MK Dons starlet, 20, is understood to be travelling to the West Midlands on Monday and the deal could be completed in time for him to make his debut in the EFL Cup against Northampton.
Galloway had looked set to move to Newcastle United but Everton were not keen on the Magpies’ insistence that the loan agreement would be with a view to a permanent transfer.
West Brom will just take Galloway on loan for the remainder of the season with head coach Tony Pulis keen to fill a problem position at the club.
Pulis was forced to deploy Jonny Evans at left-back against Everton on Saturday and has been using central defenders there since Chris Brunt’s injury earlier this year.
