Premier League table: The race for fourth place – computer ranks clubs most likely to take final Champions League spot

The Premier League title race is one of the most exciting and enthralling for several years but there is another battle brewing just a few spots down.


As West Ham and Liverpool find form, they’ve become contenders for the fourth and final Champions League qualification place, along with Manchester United.

But do any of these clubs have the best chance of finishing fourth?

We wanted to know which club was in pole position to claim fourth place at the end of the season and the boffin behind Sports Club Stats, might be able to give us an idea.

Using a complex algorithm, involving millions of simulated fixtures – explained here – the website analyses the chances of a team finishing in each position.

And it’s thrown up some interesting numbers, which you can see by clicking the right arrow above.

Of course, no one knows for sure how the table will end up, but it’s fun to discuss.
