Squad numbers have become a huge part of the game since their introduction.
It’s important so we can identify players from the stands and the press box, though things have moved on a lot since the days of seeing just 1-11 on the pitch.
Now numbers hold sentimental value to some – or just suit their position – but sometimes players can’t get what they want on the back of their shirt.
So when the digits they desire become available, they are likely to change them as soon as possible – and that’s what has happened across the Premier League this summer.
