Stoke could miss out on the signing of West Brom striker Saido Berahino as Watford are ready to match his £20m valuation.
Berahino falls out of contract next summer and is expected to move on before the current transfer window closes.
Stoke are understood to have tested Albion’s resolve with a bid in the region of £16million but the Baggies are holding out for the full £20million asking price.
Reports claim the Hornets have emerged as “serious contenders” to land the 22-year-old this summer and are ready to make an official bid this week.
It remains to be seen whether or not a bid from Vicarage Road will convince Stoke to raise their own offer, but it seems as if Berahino could well be on the move before the new season begins.
There is a good chance Stoke will not be bullied into increasing their offer, especially when the player will be available on a free transfer in 12 months.
