Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has said “everyone was against us” winning the Premier League title last season.
A poor run at the end of the campaign eventually led to Spurs finishing third in the table despite being the main challengers to Leicester City for the title in the second half of the season.
The Argentine boss says he felt neutrals wanted the Foxes to win an unlikely title and that led to extra stress being put on his young players in the closing stages of the season.
Speaking to Canal+ he said: “I believe we’re brave and took risks.
“A team is a reflection of its coaching staff.
“We’re the youngest team in the Premier League. Playing well isn’t easy but we failed; failed in the key moments to become champions.
“I have to admit it [public opinion] was an extra stress. Everyone was against us. The team in second was the one to beat.”
