Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino says Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Liverpool at White Hart Lane was the right result.
Both sides have aspirations of challenging for the Premier League title this season and the game started at a fast pace, with the visitors being denied twice in the early stages.
Goalkeeper Michel Vorm, standing in for the injured Hugo Lloris, saved brilliantly from Philippe Coutinho inside the box before Joel Matip glanced a header off the bar.
The Reds managed to take the lead just before half-time when James Milner tucked away a penalty after Erik Lamela had clipped Roberto Firmino in the area.
Spurs managed to rouse themselves for the second period and were able to clinch an equaliser in the 72nd minute when Danny Rose crashed home an effort at the back post.
Neither side could grab a winner in the closing stages and Pochettino felt a share of the spoils was right for both teams.
“It was a game that if you look at the stats it was 50-50,” he said. “Liverpool are a team who want to play and win titles and I think we are in the same way and it was a fair result.”
