Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino has ended fears he may be poached away by signing a two-year contract extension until 2021.
Pochettino announced almost two weeks ago he had struck a verbal agreement with Spurs and the deal has now been officially confirmed.
The 44-year-old was appointed in May 2014 and he’s achieved remarkable progress at White Hart Lane, leading Tottenham to second place this season with one game left to play and he is looking ahead to Spurs becoming regular challengers for titles.
He told the club’s official website: “We have enjoyed a great season and we believe this is just the beginning. We have a long-term project and huge belief that we can achieve something big here for the future. We have assembled a great group of players with huge potential that can get even better.
“We also have an incredible new stadium to look forward to and now we are determined to build a side worthy of playing in such an exciting new venue.”
He added: “This club has all the ingredients to continue to challenge at the very top of both the Premier League and in Europe and I want to be here to be a part of what I believe will be a special period in the club’s history.”
