Saints loan man Gaston Ramirez has revealed he will consider a permanent switch to Middlesbrough if they get promoted this season.
The Uruguayan playmaker impressed again on Friday with a brilliant brace of goals in a 2-1 win over Wolves to briefly put Boro back top of the table.
Ramirez, who Southampton paid Bologna £12million to sign, is out of contract in the summer and likely to have his pick of clubs from Italy again.
But he has admitted he would be keen to talk about a permanent move to the Riverside Stadium.
“If Boro get promoted would I talk about staying? Why not?” he pondered after the welcome win over Wolves. “At the moment I am only thinking about this team and winning the Championship and going up. But after that…
“I feel I am good enough to play in the Premier League,” he went on. “I am fighting for that.
“I want to show that I can play at the top level. I want to show good I am. That is my ambition.”
