Midfielder Steven Pienaar is reportedly training with Sunderland as boss David Moyes eyes a reunion with the ex-Everton man.
The 34-year-old has been brought in by new Black Cats boss Moyes and he will hope to earn a contract this month after being released by Everton earlier this summer.
Pienaar featured just six times for Everton last season but the South African international has a wealth of Premier League experience.
In his two spells at Goodison Park he racked up 189 league appearances, with Moyes managing him from 2007 to 2011, while he also had an injury-hit two years at Tottenham between 2010-12.
Moyes is clearly after players to improve his squad that he knows can do a job for him and Pienaar, while coming towards the end of his career, fits the bill.
If he impresses in training in the next few weeks he could be handed a one-year-deal by the Black Cats.
