Matt Phillips has admitted he’s been pleasantly surprised with how good West Brom striker Salomon Rondon is.
Phillips joined the Baggies this summer and says he’s been impressed with Venzuela international Rondon, who is a much better player than he thought he was.
“I can’t sing his praises enough, he’s a top player,” the winger said in the Express & Star. “If you provide him with service, he’s going to score. I didn’t realise how good he was until I came here.”
Phillips has settled into life at the Hawthorns well and, alongside Rondon, Nacer Chadli and James McClean, the Baggies are causing plenty of problems for others in the final third.
The quartet are providing the creativity and goals for Tony Pulis’s men and Phillips is revelling in the side.
He added: “It’s enjoyable, you’ve got James on the other side and Salomon up front who is different gears. Me and James will provide the width and Sal will finish things off. Nacer has got that little bit of extra creativity and flair and as he’s shown, he can score goals.”
