Newcastle striker Ayoze Perez says the players are still behind under-fire boss Steve McClaren but admits “something must change”.
The Magpies are in the relegation scrap and, following Saturday’s 3-1 home defeat against Bournemouth, sit second-bottom with 10 games to go.
Reports suggest owner Mike Ashley is mulling over boss Steve McClaren’s position and he could be sacked in the next 24 hours.
Perez says the players have no problem with the boss but admits there are problems that need to be addressed.
“In some moments we are not a team, we are not as one. Something has to change,” Perez told BBC Newcastle.
“It’s not enough – we have good quality in the dressing room, but during this season we have not shown it. We need to be a team.”
Specifically on McClaren, Perez added: “He is our manager, we have to be with him.
“If something changes, I don’t know what’s going to happen – but right now we are with him because he is our manager.”
