Pep Guardiola thinks John Stones could be the next Gerard Pique

10 Aug

Barcelona ace Pique has established himself as one of the best defenders in the world after winning every major honour in the game.

The 29-year-old, who played under Guardiola at the Nou Camp, has landed six La Liga titles with Barca along with three European Cups and also helped Manchester United win the Champions League in 2008.

On top of this Pique has also won the World Cup and European Championship with Spain in a glittering international career spanning 81 caps.

Guardiola had a huge role to play in Pique’s development at Barca and sees a lot of similarities between him and Stones.

The Spanish boss reckons Pique is the ultimate modern defender, someone who is comfortable on the ball and good enough to operate as a sweeper or in midfield if needed.
