The agent of Dimitri Payet has claimed he could still leave West Ham despite the player insisting he is certain to stay put.
The France international has been linked with a move away from the Hammers all summer, with both Real Madrid and PSG strongly linked, but reports on Friday claimed he was staying on.
He was quoted by The Sun as saying he was staying at the Premier League club but his agent, Jacques-Olivier Auguste, insists his client has not even spoken to the publication.
“I have no idea where this [interview] came from but in any case he never said that,” Auguste told L’Equipe 21. “With West Ham it is quite simple, if a club is interested they will call the club, and then, we will see.
“Now Dimitri is certainly feeling good at West Ham, but to say that he will 100 per cent stay is difficult.
“Because if tomorrow he has to leave, I think he will be burnt in public.”
In an interview in The Sun, Payet had been quoted as saying: “I’ve heard about all the interest and I’m flattered. But I love West Ham.
“We had a fantastic season and I can’t wait to play in the Olympic Stadium. I’m 100 per cent staying at West Ham, I love the club. I can tell the Hammers fans that.”
Les Bleus star Payet is 50/1 with Titanbet to be the top goalscorer in the Premier League next season.
