Inter Milan honorary president Massimo Moratti says he would love to see Dimitri Payet in an Inter shirt next season.
The Nerazzurri are flush with cash after being taken over by a Chinese consortium who have paid, or are going to pay, £220m for the Italian giants.
Inter are expected to splash the cash this summer as they look to get themselves back to the top table in Europe and their honorary president Moratti says Payet would be their number one target.
He said: “As a fan, I would love to see [Dimitri] Payet in an Inter shirt.
“However, the great champions are currently elusive, you have to be lucky enough to find the right opportunity.”
The Hammers may well have a fight on their hands to keep the French star at the Olympic Stadium next season but it is unlikely that he would be prised away by a club not taking part in the Champions League, with Real Madrid’s interest of more concern to the Hammers.
