Paul Pogba: Manchester Airport hint that midfielder has arrived for Manchester United medical

Manchester Airport have hinted that Paul Pogba has arrived in the city for his Manchester United medical.

The Juventus midfielder is expected to compete his £89m return to Old Trafford imminently after the two clubs agreed a world record transfer fee.

The airport’s official Twitter account stoked excitement about Pogba’s arrival by publishing an image of a private jet landing on a runway.

The tweet read: “An important passenger has just touched down at the airport. Can anyone guess who it might be?”

Pogba will undergo a medical at the Aon Training Complex on Monday and the deal could be finalised the same evening.

Jose Mourinho, the United manager, believes that the 23-year-old midfielder is worth the record fee as he could yet become the best player in the world.

“United is the perfect club to bring him to the level he wants to be,” he said after his side’s 2-1 Community Shield win over Leicester City on Sunday. “The Premier League is the perfect habitat for that.

“If you want to be best player in world, you in trouble at Barcelona or Real Madrid, because the other two guys (Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo) won’t let you do that.

“But with us, in the most-seen worldwide championship, which is incredible, he is with a team who wants to bring United to the top again.”

Pogba will become the fourth signing of Jose Mourinho’s reign at Manchester United following his appointment in May.

Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan have also arrived through the door at Old Trafford this summer.
