“Look at the United team and it doesn’t frighten you. It’s stronger with him in it”
When you’re his age, you’re not going to play every week, and he was always someone who played in every game, however fit he was.
Now he’s going to be in and out. He’s just at that stage of his career. He’s played a lot football. But he can still play.
I would start him against Liverpool. Look at the United team and it doesn’t frighten you. It’s stronger with him in it.
Also, he’ll be fresh. Jesse Lingard has just played back-to-back games for England. That’s mentally tiring when you’re making your debut.
For me, Rooney will be fresher. And he’ll be dying to get out there. He loves these games and he’s played well in plenty of them over the years.
Playing him also takes the spotlight off Paul Pogba, because people will be asking questions about him again if he doesn’t show up in a game this big.
I know some people have this theory that the two can’t play together, that they get in each other’s way. I disagree.
