PAUL MERSON COLUMN: Man United will regret paying £89m for Paul Pogba

13 Aug

Harry Kane has done it for two seasons in a row and he’s a great player, but he’s played a lot of football in that time and it could take its toll.

This is still the best league in the world though. There’s nowhere else where six teams could win the title.

You also have some of the best managers here now in Guardiola, Mourinho, Conte, Klopp, Wenger, and Pochettino.

They’ll be great entertainment and what happens in the dug-out could be just as much fun as what happens on the pitch.

But I’m not convinced the world’s best players will suddenly start following them here. This is a hard league. It’s much easier to play for the top clubs in Spain.

So don’t expect to see Neymar, Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo rocking up here any time soon.
