In the latest incident of a spate of attempted child abductions in a North East town, parents have been urged to be vigilant after the 10-year-old was approached by a pair in a dark coloured car in Hartlepool, County Durham, on Wednesday, March 16.

It was the third attempt to abduct a young girl from the streets of the town since February.

The car stopped near the girl as she walked alone in Mowbray Road and the woman, who was driving, said she had been sent by the child’s parents to pick her up and asked her to get into the car.

When the girl tried to ran away, the car followed her and the man and woman repeatedly asked her to get into the vehicle.
