Alan Pardew says Crystal Palace will “fight tooth and nail” to keep hold of Wilfried Zaha following reported interest from China.
Chinese Super League outfit Beijing Guoan have been linked with a £15million move for the Eagles forward but Pardew doesn’t expect Zaha to depart in the summer.
Some big names have moved to China of late, including Ezequiel Lavezzi, Jackson Martinez, Ramires and Alex Teixeira, but Pardew feels such a switch would be detrimental to Zaha’s career and he is convinced the 23-year-old will remain at Selhurst Park.
“(We will) fight tooth and nail to hold on to all our good players,” he told reporters. “We want to build this club, it’s an important year and (will be) the first time we’ve done three years in a row in the Premier League.
“We want to get across that hurdle and then build again with our best players.
“As a career move, China for Zaha makes no sense, I can’t see him being interested in that. He’s picked up this year, been our best player in this period, the games of the last two months.”
