Crystal Palace will make a move for Liverpool striker Christian Benteke as Saido Berahino closes in on a move to Stoke City.
The Eagles were chasing a move for West Brom striker Berahino but reports are rife that he will join Stoke in a £16million deal, forcing them to look elsewhere, with Benteke the target.
Benteke only joined the Reds from Aston Villa last summer, but failed to live up to his mammoth price tag and looks to be heading for a sharp exit.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp does not appear to rate the striker and will be happy to cash in and use the money to bring in his own targets over the close season.
Palace are now believed to have entered the running for Benteke’s signature as boss Alan Pardew looks to add goals to a squad that struggled to find the back of the net last season.
The Eagles will have the finances to complete a deal after being taken over by American investors and Benteke could also be keen if it means more regular first-team football.
