Crystal Palace are reportedly keen to sign Newcastle winger Andros Townsend following the Magpies relegation from the Premier League.
The England international only joined the North East outfit in a £12million deal from Tottenham in January, but he impressed during the second-half of the campaign, scoring four goals in 13 league appearances, although ultimately his form could not help Rafael Benitez’ side remain in the division.
Townsend was included in England’s provisional squad for Euro 2016 following his resurgence in form, and Palace boss Alan Pardew is also reportedly interested in signing the 24-year-old this summer.
The Eagles are expected to make a move for Townsend next week, and the winger is believed to have a release clause in his contract which is less than what Newcastle paid Tottenham in January.
Should Townsend move to Selhurst Park then he will become the club’s first signing of the summer, as they bid to build on an up-and-down 2015-16 campaign, where they finished 15th in the league standings and reached the FA Cup final.
