Alan Pardew has hinted at his Cup final selection by telling Emmanuel Adebayor he has two games to convince him he deserves a new deal.
Pardew will decide if the 32-year-old Eagles striker is worth another contract after the FA Cup final against Manchester United next weekend.
Adebayor arrived at Palace on a short-term deal until the end of the season with the option of a further 12 months but has contributed only one goal towards them securing their Premier League status.
He has started only once in the past two months and was a substitute in the Wembley semi-final win over Watford, but could yet earn a starting role for the showpiece against the Red Devils.
Pardew said: “He’s been a good character around this place, he’s won trophies.
“He hasn’t had a lot of starts but we have still got two big, big games to go (against Southampton on Sunday and against United in the Cup).
“The decision we make on Ade will be on these two big games. I think he has still got a big part to play as he’s a top player.”
