Arsene Wenger says he is at a loss to explain how Mesut Ozil has not made it into the PFA Premier League Team of the Year.
The Germany World Cup winner has had an impressive campaign for the Gunners and has racked up a superb 18 assists for his team-mates in the league.
Despite making it on to the six-man shortlist for the PFA Player’s Player, the former Real Madrid man has not been named in the top XI of the season, which is dominated by Leicester and Spurs players and only includes Hector Bellerin from Wenger’s squad, who are 1/20 with Titanbet to finish in the top four this season.
“It’s a surprise to me,” Wenger said. “I cannot explain it. It’s the players who vote.
“I donÂ’t know why they did not pick him. When you are top in the assists usually that is a sign of quality that should get you a place in the top team.”
