Christian Benteke’s agent has rubbished reports Crystal Palace are close to completing the signing of the Liverpool striker.
Speculation at the weekend stated the Eagles were poised to break their transfer record to sign the Belgium international for over £30million after agreeing personal terms with Benteke following his return from holiday.
However, his agent, Kismet Eris, has told Sky Sports News there is “nothing in” the rumours of an agreement with Palace, insisting there is still a chance of him remaining at Liverpool as he has only just completed the first 12 months of a £120,000-a-week, five-year contract.
Palace are determined to land a big-name striker this summer and will be eager to get a deal done for Benteke, who does not appear to fit into Jurgen Klopp’s plans at Anfield.
Palace have already missed out on one striker this summer after Chelsea snapped up Benteke’s Belgian compatriot Michy Batshuayi.
