Northampton 1 – Man United 3: Carrick, Herrera and Rashford spare Mourinho’s blushes

22 Sep

Carrick, recalled having been exiled since the Community Shield, says he had no point to prove and said: “I’m not going to change my game now. The manager knows exactly what I can do, my strengths. Just like every player, you play some games and you miss some games.

“We are all in it together and it was nice to bounce back. Everyone has got to calm down now in terms of how they reacted.”

Northampton maanager Rob Page had no complaints and said: “There is no crisis at United whatsoever. He’s a fantastic manager Jose Mourinho and he’s going to take his time to put his stamp on it.

“They’ve had a difficult week by their standards, but they’ve got some excellent players and they punished when we gave them the chances in the second half.

“When you give away soft goals you will get punished. When you give goals away like that there will be only one outcome.”
