Everton’s hopes of pursuing a deal for Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel have been dashed for now.
The arrival of Steve Walsh from Leicester as the club’s first director of football comes with an agreement that they will not approach the champions for any of their players for an unspecified period of time meaning their will be no move for Schmeichel this summer.
New boss Ronald Koeman had been linked with a £17m move for the Foxes number one as he looks for a new first choice at Goodison Park following the departure of Tim Howard to the MLS.
Everton have signed Maarten Stekelenburg from Fulham and also have Joel Robles fighting it out to be number one but Koeman is still expected to push for a new first-choice shot stopper.
